Choosing Siding

Whether building a house or looking to remodel your home, the worst part can be picking a siding. The siding gives the first impression of your home so we put together a little rundown of what you’ll need to know about siding before you make the ultimate decision.

1. Vinyl is the most used siding in North America and the least expensive. It is easily installed and fast to install keeping labor costs low. Vinyl is the best choice for anyone looking to install the siding themselves. Vinyl is great because it doesn’t warp and does not need to be painted. Instead, it comes in a range of colors and styles. Insulated vinyl is similar only it has insulation permanently attached to each panel.

2. Fiber Cement Siding is a mix of cement, sand, and cellulose. It is usually a bit more expensive and harder to install but can be figured out with a little knowledge and know-how. Fiber Cement Siding is resistant to fire, insects, and water which makes it very durable.

3. Wood Siding is generally the most expensive and made even more expensive when you add in the future upkeep costs. Wood siding is also the hardest to install and better left to the professionals. Wood siding lasts for a while but should be inspected regularly.

4. Steel, Aluminum and Metal Siding is cheap but harder to install as special tools are needed. They last for a while but can be easily damaged.

That’s the short of it, important details about siding that you should consider before you pick one. If you have any other questions, give us a call!
